Pi Day 2022 Pumpkin Pie

Look, I got my act together and made a pie for Pi Day this year! This one is extra special because I had been saving the pie pumpkin from a trip to Cox Farms in October. That puppy was well-cured and made for a nice sweet pie. Presenting Pi Day 2022 Pumpkin Pie! This one set up nicely cooked in my new salt-glaze stoneware dish. Cooking time was 56 min at 350. 12/13/21 Austrian Christmas Bell-Ringer 6 Pies!

I made a record 6 pies for the re-instating of our annual neighborhood holiday party. While it was too many pies, it was fun and I'll be enjoying the leftovers for many days to come (I even froze some). Featured in the photo are the 2 Blueberry Pies, Vinegar Chess Pie, and Pecan Pie. I also made a Banana Cream Pie and a Chocolate Pudding Pie, but they were hiding in the refrigerator during the photo shoot. Everything came out great with these exceptions: one of the blueberry pies came out a bit soupy (maybe based on which rack it was on in the oven or the pie dish used) and I forgot about the Pecan Pie for a few minutes after the timer went off, so it was a touch overdone. 11/27/21 Thanksgiving Banana Cream Pie

Per my oldest son's request, we feasted on Banana Cream Pie for Thanksgiving 2021. As usual, I just used plain honey graham crackers for the crust, arrowroot starch for the starch, and did not add any coffee. Current Pie Tally = 286

Blueberries must have been on sale at the store again, hence this Blueberry Pie. And that's my mother's cooling rack under the Peach Crumb Pie, so I must have made that for her birthday again when I went up to CT to visit her. Current Pie Tally = 285

12/26/20 Ghost of Christmas Past Pumpkin Pie

If you're going to have a pandemic Christmas, you might as well have Pumpkin Pie with it. And homemade cranberry sauce. And cinnamon buns (the empty cake stand was for those I think). I also made Austrian Stelze for the first time for this Christmas. Basically, I pulled out all the stops on the holiday cooking front. I'm kind of impressed I didn't break the oven.
